Essential Oils And Travel - Packing Suggestions For Your Essential Oils

What packing secrets can make the packing of your essential oils easier? There are several things that can help keep your oils safe and organized while you travel, and there are also some hints about the ones you take in your one-quart plastic bag.

For Your Checked Bag

I use a specially padded carrying case for 30 vials of essential oils, though some people prefer the carrying case for 16 vials. It has dividers of padded cotton between where each bottle sits, which is great to keep them from banging together. It also has padding on all sides, top, and bottom. There are many excellent essential oil travel cases on the market, but this style is my favorite.

For Your One-Quart Plastic Bag

What I do is line up six 5 ml oil bottles in the bottom of a non-zip sandwich bag and fold it over them to make a secure carrier. Then I place them in a zipped plastic snack bag.

Because of the possibility of sitting on the tarmac and getting too hot, I also put a 15 ml bottle of peppermint oil in my one-quart bag. This 15 ml bottle will have only 15-20 drops of peppermint oil in it. If I need it to help cool down my body temperature, I simply

1, fill with water to almost the top of the bottle

2. replace the cap lid with a spray top

and I have my own personal spritzer! Peppermint is known for its cooling properties. I've been known to spray it on my shoulders, neck, etc., but it is important to keep peppermint away from the eyes, because it can burn.

A Tip for Both

Most companies provide labels to go onto the top of the essential oil bottles and these are very helpful, especially for the bottles in the padded carrying case. If your eyes are over 40 years of age, you may prefer to make your own labels with your label maker!

Essential Oils For Dealing With The Stress Of Travel

Essential oils are being used by more and more people in dealing with stress, and travel has certainly become more stressful in recent years. Which oils are good for this purpose and how can they be used?

Which Oils?

When you think of an essential oil for dealing with stress, what is the first oil that comes to mind? For most people, it is lavender. Two of my favorites are Idaho balsam fir and frankincense, and some people prefer geranium, jasmine, or ylang ylang as well.

What happens when some of these oils are combined into a special blend? I pack one of my favorite blends in my checked bag. The blend that I carry with me in my one-quart plastic bag contains nine different oils, including frankincense, myrrh, lavender, rose, and Idaho balsam fir. Whether I inhale directly from the bottle or just hold it in my hand, it provides a calming sense of security for me.

Other top choices include bergamot, Roman chamomile, and spruce.

How to Use

After you read the remainder of this article, you will have a better idea of how you might like to use some of these calming oils in your travels.

As you might expect, some people wear their stress reduction oils as a cologne or perfume. Others feel more relaxed just knowing that their favorite oil is close by. It can be in an essential oil necklace or in a pocket, briefcase, or handbag.

Some people take single oils with them, while others prefer blends. Some people purchase their blends, while others make their own.

Inhalation Secrets

As security at airports has become more of an issue, people are discovering more ways of having their favorite relaxation aroma with them at all times. Here is a partial list of how to do it.

1. Essential Oil Necklace

These come in various styles. Mine is called an essendulum and I can smell the aroma by lifting off the top. Some people prefer a terra cotta oil necklace onto which they can place a few drops of their favorite oil. Then it acts as a diffuser.

2. Bottle

Space and weight determine which size bottle I take. Usually it is a 5 ml or a 15 ml bottle. But sometimes I will fill a 5/8 dram bottle with my favorite oil blend and then use my label maker to label it.

3. Inhaler

Various companies sell inhalers with wicks onto which one can put several drops of a favorite oil. If you use more than one of these inhalers, you will probably want to label the outside with a label maker.

4. Cotton Round or Cotton Ball in a Zip-Lock Bag

Some people simply put a few drops of their favorite oil on a cotton ball or cotton round, pit in in a zip lock bag, and pack it in their carry-on luggage.

Essential Oils In Your Office - Ideas For People Whose Co-Workers Don't Appreciate Essential Oils

Bringing essential oils into the office can bring benefits in a greater number of ways than people anticipate. But sometimes, co-workers object to the scent, so what does one do then? Here are some ideas to help.

Consolation

1. People who take a large number of medications or who have chemical sensitivities can have a hypersensitivity to essential oils.

2. Are these the same people who wear cologne or perfume containing synthetic chemicals that one can not pronounce? And they are objecting to essential oils whose health benefits have been known for centuries?

3. If their body is extremely toxic and in need of a detox, essential oils could actually produce detox symptoms such as headaches, or in extreme cases, nausea.

Rebuttal

This is not the highest choice, but it is always helpful to have another option.

1. Perhaps their cologne or perfume bothers you!

2. The oils can assist people in achieving their goals more easily and more quickly. Perhaps you could tell them how the benefits you receive from the oils may directly or indirectly benefit them also.

Other Options

1. Use the oils on your break. Whereas smokers smoke on their break, you can use this as a healthy break.

2. Use the oils in the restroom.

3. Use the oils before you come in or at lunch.

4. Wear your favorite oil in an essential oil necklace.

5. Put a drop of your favorite oil in your water glass.

6. Use a drop in hot water to make a tea. It is said that one drop of therapeutic grade peppermint essential oil is the equivalent of 26 cups of peppermint tea.

7. Inhale directly from the bottle.

8. Use one of the inhalers that is designed for your favorite oil.

9. Use less of the oil. When using therapeutic grade essential oils, fewer drops are required to achieve the same results from an oil of lesser quality.

Essential Oils And Your Home Office - Greater Creativity With Essential Oils

When you work in your home office and want more creativity, there are many different tools and techniques that you can use. What I'd like to share with you today is the fastest and easiest way I've discovered to date - essential oils!

Why Essential Oils?

Because when they are inhaled, they go through the nose to the brain in seconds! However, because of this, one should use only therapeutic grade essential oils. A number of essential oils on the market have been adulterated with synthetic chemicals and I certainly don't want that going directly to my brain! That's why I stick with therapeutic grade essential oils.

How to Use

Two of the easiest ways are (1) to diffuse them in a cold-air diffuser and (2) to simply inhale them directly from the bottle.

I was taught that the proper way to inhale essential oils is as follows:

  • breathe in through the left nostril
  • breathe in through the right nostril
  • breathe in through both nostrils

Why this way? When one inhales through the left nostril, the message of the essential oil first goes to the right brain, which is the creative side of the brain. Of course, it is fine to just inhale naturally.

Which Essential Oils?

Some people prefer single oils such as cedarwood, Idaho balsam fir, frankincense, sandalwood, spruce or other conifer oils. Other people prefer essential oil blends using combinations of the following oils: blue cypress, blue tansy, cedarwood, cinnamon bark, frankincense, geranium, ginger, hyssop, jasmine, lavender, mugwort, myrrh, myrtle, orange, patchouli, rose, rosewood, sage, sandalwood, white fir, and ylang ylang.

My Favorite

Recently, you'll find me inhaling a blend of frankincense, myrrh, hyssop, spikenard, cedarwood, Idaho balsam fir, cinnamon, lavender and rose oils when I want more creativity. I sit down with my blend of these oils, close my eyes, and think about what it is I want to accomplish. I continue inhaling the oil for a bit, and then sit there with my eyes closed for awhile. When I get up, I have the inspiration I need and can envision myself accomplishing what it is that I set out to accomplish. I even have the sensation of finishing the project!

Essential Oils And Your Home Office - Benefits In Focus, Accuracy And Brain Power

Your home office has many more choices than a company office when it comes to using essential oils for focus, accuracy, productivity, and brain power in general. For example, you can use a diffuser to enjoy the benefits or you can wear them as cologne and apply them as often as you like, without wondering if a co-worker will object. You can look in the Essential Oils Desk Reference for additional ideas and try them out without a concern for what others might think.

Clear Thinking, Focus, and Accuracy

The essential oils of peppermint, lemon and lavender have all been studied for this purpose and have been shown to increase accuracy by as much as 54%. The exact figures are lemon, 54%; peppermint, 28%; and lavender, 20%. Jasmine is ranked at 33%, but I don't experiment with it as much because it is one of the essential oils that should never be ingested.

For clarity and focus, some people prefer a combination of basil, bergamot, cardamom, geranium, jasmine, lemon, palmarosa, peppermint, Roman chamomile, rosemary, rosewood, and ylang ylang. Other people prefer to make their own blends.

Brain Power

Recently, I've been delighted with the results I get from inhaling a therapeutic grade of cedarwood essential oil. Why is it so powerful? Because out of all of the essential oils discovered thus far, it has the highest amount of sesquiterpenes. Yes, that's a big word, but it's important because when sesquiterpenes are inhaled, the have the ability to cross the blood-brain barrier and supply the brain with more oxygen! This is huge!

King Solomon from the Bible times of old was regarded as the wisest man in the known world at that time. And what was the main material for the construction of his house and temple? Cedarwood.

Some people prefer to make their own brain power blend from oils such as cedarwood, sandalwood, frankincense, lavender, helichrysum, blue cypress and Melissa. Once again, others prefer to make their own blends.
