Bringing essential oils into the office can bring benefits in a greater number of ways than people anticipate. But sometimes, co-workers object to the scent, so what does one do then? Here are some ideas to help.
Consolation
1. People who take a large number of medications or who have chemical sensitivities can have a hypersensitivity to essential oils.
2. Are these the same people who wear cologne or perfume containing synthetic chemicals that one can not pronounce? And they are objecting to essential oils whose health benefits have been known for centuries?
3. If their body is extremely toxic and in need of a detox, essential oils could actually produce detox symptoms such as headaches, or in extreme cases, nausea.
Rebuttal
This is not the highest choice, but it is always helpful to have another option.
1. Perhaps their cologne or perfume bothers you!
2. The oils can assist people in achieving their goals more easily and more quickly. Perhaps you could tell them how the benefits you receive from the oils may directly or indirectly benefit them also.
Other Options
1. Use the oils on your break. Whereas smokers smoke on their break, you can use this as a healthy break.
2. Use the oils in the restroom.
3. Use the oils before you come in or at lunch.
4. Wear your favorite oil in an essential oil necklace.
5. Put a drop of your favorite oil in your water glass.
6. Use a drop in hot water to make a tea. It is said that one drop of therapeutic grade peppermint essential oil is the equivalent of 26 cups of peppermint tea.
7. Inhale directly from the bottle.
8. Use one of the inhalers that is designed for your favorite oil.
9. Use less of the oil. When using therapeutic grade essential oils, fewer drops are required to achieve the same results from an oil of lesser quality.
